Biography

I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX, and from about age 10 I wanted to play bass. I think it was a combination of wanting to emulate my bass-playing cousin Ewell and wanting to be Paul McCartney. I had a rich musical upbringing and was exposed to a lot of different types of music. Our family played at company functions, picnics, that sort of thing, so my brother Tommy & I grew up performing.

I was blessed to have an amazing High School music education. Both of my band directors were instrumental in pushing me to be not only a "by ear" player but also a reader and a student of theory. I began playing professionally at the age of 15, with one of my parents hauling me and my gear around from gig to gig. I began a 6 night a week gig playing standards with "old guys" that lasted my junior and senior years of high school. Invaluable to say the least.

After graduation I attended the University of Miami, then transferred to Sam Houston State outside of Houston. While at both institutions I was surrounded by incredible educators and peers - looking back on those times, I am constantly amazed at God's timing putting me in those positions.

I joined a Las Vegas-style variety band and traveled with that unit for 11 years, until we split off and formed our own band, "Nobody's Fool”. We still perform together today.

In 2006, my brother & I formed a trio with my amazing niece Kelley Peters, and “KP3” was born. We continue to do gigs and record together. There is nothing quite like making music with your family!

Early on I developed a major love affair with the recording studio. I worked hard at establishing myself as a qualified musician, and it has paid off. I spend a lot of time in the studio, and I love it as much now as I did when I first began. I am now available to do bass tracks from home! Please contact me for more information.

Since the early 90s, and continuing today, it has been a total blessing to be allowed to play in church settings. I spent many years at Lakewood Church, both at home and traveling with Pastor Joel Osteen, and performing with artists like Israel Houghton, Cindy Ratcliff and Marcos Witt. Talk about a learning curve! It was great. In 2008 I became the Music Director and bassist for Woodlands Church Northwest, a satellite campus of Woodlands Church located in Tomball, TX. In November 2013 I joined the Music Team at Pathfinders Fellowship in The Woodlands, TX, and in April of 2014 I began playing and singing with the unbelievable Worship Band at Lone Star Cowboy Church in Montgomery, TX.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: A Native Texan. I Play Bass. What a Blessing! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my site!
